Terms of Service

These Terms are the agreement between you and Guðmundur Ingi Sigurleifsson, who runs VANI as a sole trader from Kinnargata 37, 210 Garðabær, Iceland ("we" or "us"). By creating an account, you agree to them. If something doesn't make sense, just ask at hello@vani.is.

Who can use VANI

VANI is for families. You must be 18 or older to set up a home in VANI, to use VANI on your own, or to buy a subscription.

Children and teens take part through an adult's home, either as a profile the adult manages or, once the home invites them, with their own login. They are not allowed to buy a subscription. The adult who set up the home is responsible for how it uses VANI.

When you create a child profile, you confirm you are that child's parent or legal guardian.

The age of 16 mentioned in our Privacy Policy is a data protection rule we apply in every country. It decides who can share usage data with us, and whether a parent or guardian has to agree before a child gets their own login.

Subscriptions and payments

You need an active subscription or free trial to use VANI, unless you have free access as described below. One subscription covers everyone in your home.

Subscriptions are sold through the App Store. Apple takes the payment, so we never see your card details. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel it at any time in your App Store settings. Apple's Media Services Terms explain your right of withdrawal and how to use it, and Apple decides refund requests (reportaproblem.apple.com).

Each family gets one 14-day free trial. If a member has a free trial running while they are in the family, that is the family's trial, even if they started it before joining. If you don't cancel before it ends, your subscription starts automatically at the price shown when you subscribe. We aim to email you a reminder before it converts, but the trial ends and your subscription starts on the date shown in your Apple subscription settings whether or not you receive it.

When access ends. If the subscription or free trial that gives you access ends, VANI pauses until a subscription is active again, unless you have free access as described below. The app then opens on the subscription page, where you can still sign out or delete your account, and manage a subscription if you have one. Your routines and other data stay in your account, and you can ask us for a copy at hello@vani.is.

Subscriptions are only for people aged 18 or older. If we learn that the person buying is under 18, we won't offer a subscription on that account. If you're under 18 and have started a subscription or free trial, you can cancel it in your device's store settings. If you have already been charged, you can ask Apple or Google for a refund.

Free access for beta testers

If your account or home was part of the VANI beta when we closed it to new testers, you have free access to VANI without a subscription for as long as we offer VANI, unless you break these Terms. Someone who joins a home with free access has it while they are in that home.

Free access stays with that account or home. It can't be sold or transferred, and it ends if the account or home is deleted. In the app it shows as "Lifetime access".

Your account

Keep your login details secure. You're responsible for activity on your account. If you think someone else has accessed it, let us know at hello@vani.is right away. You can delete your account at any time in the app settings.

What we ask of you

Please don't use VANI in ways that would harm others or break the law: no attempting to access other users' accounts, no reverse engineering the app, no misrepresenting who you are. Don't sell access to VANI, for example by letting people join your home for money. If you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, we may suspend or close your account, and we will tell you why.

Intellectual property

VANI's design, code, and branding belong to us, except for third-party material credited below. Your data and your routines belong to you. We only use your content to provide the service.

Some illustrations on this website and in the VANI app include emoji from Noto Emoji, © Google LLC, used under the Apache License 2.0. We changed them: we converted their format, resized them, and combined them with our own artwork.

Apple, the Apple logo, iPhone and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. App Store is a service mark of Apple Inc. TestFlight is a trademark of Apple Inc. Android is a trademark of Google LLC.

Liability

VANI is a habit and routine tool, not a medical, therapeutic or clinical service. We work to keep it running well, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the consumer law that applies to you.

App Store terms

If you got VANI from the App Store, Apple's standard app licence covers your right to use the app. These Terms govern your VANI account and your subscription. They are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple has no obligation to provide support for VANI.

Changes, and if VANI ends

If we change these Terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account. If we decide to stop offering VANI, we will tell you at least 30 days before.

If a company takes over VANI, for example one we set up to run it, we may transfer these Terms to that company. Your rights under them stay the same, including free access and any subscription you have, and we will tell you before it happens.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by Icelandic law. If you're an EU/EEA consumer, you can also rely on the mandatory consumer protection laws of your own country. Most issues are best sorted by just emailing us first.
